Energy Efficient Building Designs
As a LCC we are obliged to provide building energy solution to meet Part Las a minimum. It is essential that energy is at the top of the agenda in developing the project brief. We can assist in integration of renewables and reduction in energy consumptions from building services. Energy must be considered at all stages of the design process and constantly reviewed during the design & construction.

Building Log Book Production
Building Log Books are now a statutory requirement of Part L2A and L2B of the Building Regulation 2006. The purpose of the building log book is to provide an owners manual for use of the building, they are to provide a summary of how the building is intended to work and how it is to be serviced. They also provide a means of logging the energy used and maintenance of the services.
There is normally a gap between completing the building and advising FM's how the building should be operated. O&M manuals can either be over complicated or badly written as fees at the end of the project dry up.
The log book aims to:
- Span the gap between design & operation
- Improve facilities managers understanding of the design intent
- Enhance the commissioning & handover process
- Provide more concise & accessible information than contained in O&M
- Provide vehicle for recording building alterations & performance
- Provide useful information for letting agents & developers at point of sale/letting
Existing buildings can also benefit from a log book to provide a tool for understanding the operation & performance of their building.
EECO2 can provide this service as Low Carbon Consultants.

Air conditioning Inspections
During 2008 it will be necessary to have every air-conditioning system to be inspected as part of the EPBD directive.
EECO2 are able to organise & carry out these inspections for you.

Building Energy Audits
We can provide full building energy audits of existing buildings. This will provide evaluation of you current building energy performance and compare with expected benchmarks within your industry. From this report we will be able to identify problem areas and target the way forward.

Design Stage Energy Audits
We have experience in the building design process and can carry out design audits at any stage of the design to ensure the most energy efficient solution has been provided and that the life cycle costs of the building services have been considered.

SBEM Assessments
SBEM is the tool provided by the Government to enable the assessment of buildings to meet the requirements of the Building regulation Pat L2A & L2B.
We can carry out SBEM assessments for both existing commercial buildings and new designs to establish whether it complies with the building regulations are going to be met or to give a provisional guide to its energy performance rating (EPC). The industry is waiting for the final version of the SBEM tool to be provided by the end of 2007.

Energy Certificates & European Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD)
Under this Europe law home energy certificates have become compulsory for new, for sale & rented properties. By April 2008 it will be essential for all larger buildings for sale or rent to be provided with energy certificates (EPC's) and all public buildings to be provided with a display certificate.
EECO2 can provide these for you as certified Energy Assessors.
Timescales
Energy Performance certificates EPC's
April 2008 buildings over 10000m2
October 2008 buildings over 2500m2
Display Energy Certificates DEC's
Required for all public buildings from october 2008

Building Energy Metering Strategy
Providing building energy metering & sub-metering is now a statutory requirement of The Building regulations Part L2A and advised in L2B. The requirement is to provide main & sub metering to allow 90% of all energy uses to be measured and recorded. The metering strategy and method for recording values should be provided in the Building log Book.
EECO2 can provide the service to provide a metering strategy for both design stage buildings and existing buildings to allow much better energy targeting & monitoring.
